Catholic hoopster Alvin Attles, longtime NBA player, coach, executive and basketball Hall of Famer who spent more than 60 years with the Golden State Warriors, passed away August 20 at age 87.
“Alvin Attles did not just epitomize what it meant to be a Warrior—he was Mr. Warrior,” the team said in a statement. “He leaves behind a profound legacy within the game of basketball and the Bay Area community, but especially as a family man and humanitarian.”
Trivia note: The Hershey, PA native scored 17 points the night teammate (then the Philadelphia Warriors) Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points vs. the NY Knicks in 1962.
